Reflections on the Importance of Translation and Interpretation

The International Court of Justice Ruling on Preah Vihear case (21 November 2013) will bring the important role of translation-interpretation not only to Thailand and Cambodia communities but also to the whole world.

The Association of Asian Translation Industry in cooperation with Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, and the Department of Western Languages (Faculty of Liberal Arts – Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi), together with the Guest Speakers from the Royal Institute, SIL International, National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, Sapiens International, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, and Electronic Transactions Development Agency join hands as a discussion group with the aims:

1. to promote information accessibility through languages, and quality translation and interpretation,
2. to support the Thai National Language Policy: Translation, Interpretation and Sign Language Interpreting, and
3. to strengthen friendships between Thai and Cambodian professional translators and interpreters.
