Asst. Prof. Chutamas Peeraphatachara, President of RMUTP stated that RMUTP Council has unanimously agreed to confer an honorary doctorate degree in Natural Resources and Environment upon His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the King of Bhutan.
“RMUTP was honored to confer an honorary doctorate degree upon His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, in recognition of his dedication in the development of Bhutan. He has placed importance on the environmental conservation, country, and has recognized the happiness and well-being of his people by using Gross National Happiness (GNH) Philosophy. GNH’s objective is to maximize the happiness and satisfaction of his people to live in good environment.” President of RMUTP said.
Assoc. Prof. Supatra Kosaiyakanont, Vice-President for Academic and International Affairs, further stated that in the second semester of the Academic Year 2014, RMUTP will grant ten scholarships for low- income students who possess excellent academic records. These students from Bhutan will study in the International Business Program, Faculty of Business Administration. They will be financially supported for their tuition, accommodation, and living expenses throughout their four year study at RMUTP.
RMUTP is ready to expand its collaboration and contributions for international student funds to serve all nine faculties at the Bachelor and Master’s levels. RMUTP will also begin a doctoral program in the Academic Year 2014.
Executives and the University Council are traveling to Bhutan to confer the degree on 12 November 2013 at 2 P.M. (local time) at Thimphu, Bhutan.
