ABSTRACT
The objective of the research was to study the weaving process in Central Thailand. It focused on the design consumption by a special loom such as Jacquard for improving weaving techniques. This research not only containes data analysis of Jacquard production but also transfers the knowledge of economic efficiency. This study was an experimental development research using purposive sampling. The information was collected from ๓ groups. The first was ๒๕ people were using native woven in North Central Thailand such as Nern-kham woven cluster from Nern-kham district, Chainat province. The second was 25 people who were using a flying shuttle woven from Wat Nam Tao in Ma-ha Rat district, Ayutthaya province.
The results were evaluated in using the Jacquard method as it reduced time of production by using ๑๒๐ heddles. The Jacquard was easy to set up and produced delicate and versatile styles on native woven such as Yok-Dok, Yok-kit, Teen-jok, Praw-wa, and other native styles. The heddles tool is Rectangular and uses C-type steel or a greater durable material. This product also has a returnable storage card that is controlled by a cylinder and the working area is adjustable. However, the combination of this product into a traditional loom weaving must be controlled by specialist. This production machine has ease of movement and reduced torn warp yarns. The fabric was rolled by a hand lever to turn the both side together. The heddle was raised by use of foot lever in rhythmic weaving fashion. The produced Jacquard had a similar production cost but was more efficient and reasonable in price. It is suitable for new weavers that have a background in basic weaving to good quality product, using a very efficient method.
The summarize research was concerned with the process, technique, and weaving process. The main focus was the Jacquard system of a heddle lift system. It promoted the development for a semi-automatic loom weaving via motor and electricity. Moreover, the design of the Jacquard for loom weaving was the basis for developing new equipment, tools, pattern for textile products.
