In July, the Faculty of Architecture and Design arranged a training seminar for communities in South of Thailand. The training focused on designing and developing products for household decoration and designing packages for local handicrafts that are made from Panan pandanus at the Dunu Samakki Agricultural Housewife in Amphur Sikao, Trang Province. Also, they were taught how to develop value added handicrafts using bamboo in Pattani province.

The President of RMUTP, Assoc. Prof. Duangsuda  Taechotirote and the Institute of Research and Development staff delivered appliances to disabled persons at the Sirindhorn Center. RMUTP supported a budget of 400,000 baht in order to produce 50 sets of the modular below the knee, 20 sets of the modular above the knee, 10 sets of right cable-controlled hook, 5 sets of left cable-controlled hook and 20 sets of socket adaptors.

The Faculty of Industrial Textiles and Fashion Design arranged a training seminar on the clothing Industry for a group of housewives in Nanglerng and  communities located nearby. This project was made possible as a result of a training seminar at Nanning College for Vocational Technology, China that focused on technology and clothing production.

The Faculty of Business Administration arranged a project to enhance the potential for marketing in communities entitled, “A way to develop a standardized homestay model” at the Tourism Service Center, Sub District Administration Organization, Amphur Khao Ko, Petchaboon during July 30 through August 1, 2010.

The Faculty of Home Economics Technology was given financial support from the Ministry of Science and Technology to train locals about fresh – water fish processing at Samutprakarn province in August. They took fresh – water fish and created five different products; Pla Salid Samrod (gourami fish with chili sauce), Nam Prik Pla Salid (Salid Fish Chili Sauce), Pla Yo Samunprai (Pla Yo with herb) and Pla Yong (Shredded fish). This operation helped the members of the community increase their incomes and improve their qualities of life which conform to the government’s policy on social development.

The Public Relation Division at RMUTP organized the activity for local residents, that included: Nanglerng Women Group and 5 other communities located nearby RMUTP in August. Also, lecturers from the faculty of Home Economics Technology were invited to teach garland weaving for special occasions. This activity aimed to educate the communities, network with communities around RMUTP, and serve the people’s need.

The faculty of Home Economics Technology gave academic service on food safety and gift basket arrangement to Provost Marshal General Department personnel in September at their office. This training aimed to enhance both science and technological sources in community. Moreover; community realized that by increasing their knowledge, they could improve their quality of life.
