RMUTP Buddhist Lent Day

Assoc. Prof. Duangsuda Taechotirote, RMUTP President presided over the Lent Candle Offering Ceremony on Buddhist Lent Day 2010. On this occasion  lecturers, staff and students held the candle parades to the three near by temples: Wat Noranartsuntrikharam, Wat Somanatrachaworawiharn and Wat Pak Nam and participated in the ceremony as a part of merit-making.

Buddhist Lent Day (Khao Phunsa) is the beginning of a period when monks remain in a particular temple for three months and are not allowed to venture. It historically traces back to a former time when Buddha wanted to avoid monks trampling on the rice paddies or young plants in rainy season. During this time, therefore, Monks devotedly spend time to study and meditate.
