On April 8, 2022, Dr. Chalakorn Udomraksa, the Director of the Research and Development Institute at Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon (RMUTP), along with Dr. Nitinan Sriwan, the Head of the Faculty of Arts’ research project on the development of intelligent guide technology for culinary tourism, presented their research outcomes. The primary goal of the project was to develop an eco-efficient tourism system that contributes to the economic and tourism development of Samut Songkhram Province while minimizing its impact on the environment.
The project’s research team, in collaboration with a network of RMUTP-affiliated institutions and government agencies in Samut Songkhram, designed and implemented the “Samut Songkhram Smart Guide” innovation. This intelligent guide technology enables tourists to scan QR codes on signboards labeled “Little Coconut Guide,” providing them with a culinary-focused tourism route. The three routes featured in the guide include an agricultural and fruit route in Samut Songkhram City, a seafood route along the coastline of Mae Klong River, and a dessert route in the communities along the Homsod Canal. This technology not only enriches tourists’ experiences but also promotes community-based tourism.
In the future, both government agencies and tourism communities can collaborate to maintain and enhance this intelligent application. This collaboration aims to further elevate the province’s tourism sector, while researchers work to continually refine and expand the app’s capabilities to provide an even more comprehensive and enriching experience for tourists.
